The high stool or kitchen/bar stool is often an overlooked sitting platform, however as with any good chair design, it must adhere to good function and form.
The Avena is a concept born from many previous incarnations and tried and tested stool patterns to create an aesthetically sublime and functionally elite high stool with strength and svelte beauty combined. The Avena stool is in essence a triangulated structure with a wishbone leg arrangement. This creates a very strong and robust platform on which to place the saddle carved seat with the added advantage that it does not take up too much space. The legs and horizontally components (stretchers) are of ash wood. Each piece flows with the grain maintaining the whole strength within the long fibres of the ash wood. All of the components for the stool are cut with the grain so there are never any short fibres or weak points. Ash is an exceptional wood with renowned properties for inherent strength it's long forgiving flexible fibres.
The seat hollowing gives the stool its ultimate ergonomic comfort for the human form whilst the gentle incline of the seat plane gives the sitter the feeling of sitting fully on the stool and not merely perched on the edge. It greatly adds to the comfort and stability for the sitter.
The stretchers near the base of the stool give structural rigidity to the long stool legs and also give an area for the sitter to place their feet. This is also very important for the sitter as they are positioned in a natural sitting stance maintaining good blood circulation through their legs.
The Avena pattern is also available as a conventional height stool creating a light robust comfortable occasional extra seat for the dinning table, desk or simply as needed.
