Desks for Hancocks the Jewelers office now well underway. Here is a pic of James assembling the radiating board structures for the desk tops. 1st image shows the template for the form. It will all become clearer once we cut out the profile shape.
Today we have been correlating the radial fin elements of the base structures. Watch this space! pics coming soon.
Also a couple of pics of the glass screen partition screen designed earlier this year for the shop space.
Desks and cabinet work in shop by Ian Spencer.
And as we go into Autumn here are a couple of seasonal variations of the Sleeping Dragon bench.
Sail chairs taking shape at the chaircreative workshop.
These are the chairs for the earlier created Sail Tables – see earlier posting.
Very much a constructed pattern cut design the sail chairs use prime 1/4 sawn air dry oak and A4/316 marine grade stainless steel fittings.

More images will be posted of the entire sail chair group once complete.

Where do ideas come from?
Here are some mock up concept design drawings of one of the latest chaircreative projects – office re design for Jewelers shop in W1, London.
The general concept is to create a more fluid space that is easy to move around both physically and visually. Currently working on the design of the desks.
Think engine blocks, think church wall buttresses, think – Radial fins!
Yes, really!
This is the driving (no pun intended) motive around the draw carcass units that will create the desired look of fluidity in the curvaceous desk forms.
You can begin to see the development of the final design through these mock up drawings.
Once the desks are created will we then be moving onto the creation of chairs and other interior elements to suit.
More as this project develops. Working with James Huddleston fine furniture maker in the creation of this project.
Here are some images of the latest exterior installation for Parkfield Primary school, Barnet, North London. This forms part of the nursery/reception play area.
Once again a combination of oak and stainless steel mounted on to pre set cast setting blocks. (see also Underhill & Hyde)
The sinks are interesting! They have as yet to be set into the ground. You can probably see in the images that they are still finishing off the main playground for this latestnew build school!
Here are a few images of the latest incarnation of the Razorfish bench currently on show at – Making the future – see previous post.
An exquisite collection of fine wood craft designer/maker furniture pieces.
Making the Future – an exhibition of work form 40 of the leading designer/makers in the U.K. See it, touch it, believe it!
New Razorfish bench nears completion. 1st showing will be at – Making the Future – starting on September 8th.
Here are some sneak peaks at the new form in creation.
Elm seating plane with legs in bleached ash legs.
This new version features amongst other things, a refined leading edge line weight with a crisp fluid flow definition in the sculpted seat plane. An accentuated optical impression of svelte, flowing form on a crisp shell like appearance whereby its visual lightness and grace totally defies it’s inherent strength.
Go and see it soon!
Making the future – runs till the 4th October
